Hiya! I’m Vilma, and I am currently studying animation, with a focus on rigging, at The Game Assemby Malmö.
I grew up as the second oldest of four children, where the three youngest all were interested in video games. Being the oldest of the bunch I had the pleasure of watching my younger brothers play which allowed me to experience the game outside of its mechanics and as such fall in love with animation. Of course I also played games, but I preferred the experience of just watching how the character moved in the environment and how that contributed to how you saw the narrative. When I then, later in life had to decided what I wanted to do the choice was easy- I wanted to animate, to be able to create something others might be affected of just as much as I was.
When I started my studies I didn’t expect that my love for animation would develop onto a diverging path, a path of technical animation. As soon as I created my first FK-rig I was hooked, my big sister instincts took over as I could create the building blocks for not just one person but many to create beautiful things and here we are!
Even now I still love to watch others play games, but I have other hobbies too! The biggest being my love for tabletop RPG, in which I both play and dungeonmaster. Being the designated note taker, in a party with note takers is a feat I’m still very proud over. I also crotchet and knit, but I’m only good at one of them… which has led to a very healthy obsession with knitted socks.
