Embark on a perilous journey through a frozen wasteland and uncover the chilling echoes of those that tried before...
During the seventh game project, Worm Works created the game FM HPE: 102.4. We took inspiration from Journey for this project. Counter to Journey, however, we decided to have more active gameplay as well as a narrative which is told to the player with voice lines.
While working on FM HPE: 102.4 I was both in charge of the travelers rig as well as the keyed animations that it has. In addition to this I was also part of the small team which created the narrative during this game.
For this project I only created one rig, even if there is two in the end product, this was due to Agnes also wanting to rig. However, as I am faster at rigging we decided that I would be in charge of the character rig whiles she would rig the crow.
The Travelers’ rig is quite simple, I didn’t want to so something complex as we were supposed to use motion capture for the majority of the animations. As a group we also decided that we wanted to mainly work in Motion Builder for these animations, and because updating a rig can be quite complicated if you don’t do it right I decided to make a very primitive rig.
I was, however, allowed to add one addition to the rig- resizable joints for the jacket.

Animation
For the animations in the game, I was in charge of all the keyed animations for the traveler. As it was a requirement for one character to be animated with majority motion capture during this project, we decided that all animations which would move the character up from the ground would be keyed. This was forth most because we didn’t know how to capture these motions in a way which would still be enjoyable in the game.
While we recorded the motion capture which is in the game, I was in behind the computer to make sure that the capture was correct. I also helped with directing the actor, Agnes, during our shoots.
