Conjoined Clown

For the specialization course I worked together with Graphic student Hedvig Karlsson to create a character from concept to animated product. Both the clowns consent and animations are inspired by the game Little Nightmares. The rigs in Little Nightmares are quite primitive, especially when it come to their faces, and as I wanted to be able to create more detailed animations with the conjoined clown I decided to make the rigs a smidge more complicated.
During the process of creating the conjoined clowns rig I also decided that I wanted to have offset controls for the skin in between the two faces, mainly due to animations and one twin being able to “pull“ the others head towards itself. I think this addition could be really useful because of this. However, something I didn’t realize until late were the fact that the hat doesn’t rotate with the head. This is due to it only using a point constraints between the two heads.
In addition to the rig I also created an Idle loop for the conjoined clown. This idle was inspired by the animation of Little Nightmares but I also wanted to give it my own spin. This resulted in the idle you can see here to the side. However, note that the animation is rendered by Hedvig for her portfolio.
